Haikumuse | Summer 2008

by Madeleine Findlay

crabgrass
already up and mature
looks old

morning calm
three ducklings swim the pond
their wakes parallel

withered pod
the last of the shell peas--
summer hail

by Tom D’Evelyn

Puffy clouds
in the wake of leisure craft
          the river darkens

A homeless man
in my spot by the river
          summer evening

Summer haze
is it big or small, the boat
          that rocks my boat?

A breeze
     stirs the hairs
          in my cat’s ear
