Haikumuse | Spring 2008

by Madeleine Findlay

soft over the rock
the spray of the storm waves
that break far out

his back to traffic
the hitchhiker walks the road
arm outstretched

old broom
picks up dust
and gives some back

occasionally
he looks up at the sky
groundhog

Swan Point Cemetery --
due East within the cove
birds still congregate

by Tom D’Evelyn

brown froth
in the whirlpools passing by
must be spring

spring morning
seen from the bridge
the Piscataqua

Holy Saturday
the bridge’s shadow sharp
on the black river

spring dawn
into the black river
a Tufted Duck
